Dogs Could Be Brought Back To Sniff Out Drugs In Hart District

drugdogDrug sniffing dogs may be making their way back into Hart District schools as soon as the next school year, district officials report.

The dogs were one of the many programs cut in the districts attempts to balance their budget.

The Dodgers came out sluggish only scoring one run at the bigging of the game, and just couldn't seem to get it together as the Reds hit three Homeruns to stomp out any hope for the Dodgers to come back. Santa Clarita Blue Heat Hosts Vancouver In Women's Soccer Home Opener

khts_sportsThe home opener for the Santa Clarita Blue Heat, a woman’s soccer team in the western conference of the United Soccer League’s W-League, is tonight at College of the Canyons. The Blue Heat plays the Vancouver White Caps.

The Blue Heat lost to the Pali Blues, 1-0, in the season opener. The White Caps are 1-0-2 and are coming off a 1-1 draw against the Colorado Rush.

June 16, 2010: Dodgers Defeat Reds 6-2

The Dodgers got off to a solid start with a two run RBI by Loney in the Fifth, followed by a three run Homerun by Ethier in the Sixth. Adding to the lead was Manny with a Homerun in the Ninth to put the Dodgers up to Six over the Reds score of Two. The Dodgers are now back in first place as they also grab the best record of any team in the Western Division. Tow Employee Jailed For Felony Assault

khts_crime_genericA Canyon Country tow company employee is behind bars after slashing at a customer during a fight over impound charges.

According to Sgt. Kevin Blake of the Santa Clarita Valley station, the customer came to the tow yard on Reuther Avenue around 3:15 p.m. to retrieve his vehicle and had a dispute with Antonio Marco Reyes, 35, an employee of the tow yard, over the fees that were due.

Berens To Leave SCV Senior Center

bradberensheadshotAfter 19 years of service at the helm of the Santa Clarita Valley Senior Center, Executive Director Brad Berens is leaving and seeking other opportunities. According to reliable sources, his departure was a mutual agreement between Berens and the center’s board of directors.

Pizzeria Pays Tribute To Fallen Deputy

camerongloverwbadgeOn Thursday, June 17, Vincenzo’s Pizza in Newhall will donate a portion of its sales to a memorial fund set up to honor one of Santa Clarita’s fallen deputy sheriffs, Cameron Glover.

Deputy Glover died April 28 in an off-duty traffic collision. Glover and his high school sweetheart-turned-wife, Jennifer, were looking forward to the birth of their first child this summer. Jennifer is due to give birth in the next few weeks.
