    Gorman Residents And Businesses Run Dry With Broken Pump

    khts_waterfaucetBusinesses in Gorman have been closed by the Los Angeles County Health Department due a lack of potable water and contamination of well water.

    According to Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Deputy Gerald Newbold, who works out of the Gorman substation, the only businesses being allowed to operate are gas stations, and they are only allowed to sell gas. Even the sale of packaged food is prohibited by the order.

     

    Parrot Wiggles Out Of Captivity In Sand Canyon

    birdfrontviewWiggles, a Congo African Grey parrot that’s recently moved to Sand Canyon, decided to explore his new area and his owner is frantically searching for him.

    Tracee, the parrot’s owner, says that the bird, which will turn 3 on July 3, got out of the house on Thursday evening and flew into a tree across Lost Canyon Road. The bird moved a few houses down on Friday, but Tracee has not seen the bird since.

    McKeon Praises Confirmation Of Petraeus

    buckmckeonCongressman Buck McKeon, the Ranking Member of the House Armed Services Committee, released a statement praising the Senate’s swift confirmation of General David Petraeus as the new commander of U.S. and international troops in Afghanistan.

    "General Petraeus has proven himself to be one of America's most capable military officers,” said McKeon.

    Teen Room Dedicated In Redd's Memory

    edreddThe Teen Room at the Newhall Community Center was named in honor of the late Parks Commissioner Ed Redd during a brief ceremony today

    Redd died suddenly in March. He had served as a Parks, Recreation and Community Service Commissioner since August 2002. Redd was an instructor in the City’s Parent Education programs and worked tirelessly for the youth in the community and their parents.

    McKeon Statement On Arlington Investigation

    UCLA Swept By South Carolina In College World Series

    The Bruins had a 1-0 lead in Game 2 of the best-of-three series, but South Carolina tied the game in the eighth inning and scored the winning run in the bottom of the 11th.

    Fourth Of July Parade Celebrates Movietown USA

    4th-grannyOn Sunday morning, the annual Santa Clarita Valley Fourth of July parade will fill the streets of Newhall with floats, musicians, marchers and spectators all out to celebrate the country’s independence.

    Memorial Set For Noted Plastic Surgeon

    pechtermugThe memorial service for plastic surgeon and philanthropist Edward A Pechter will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday July 15 at the Hyatt Regency, Valencia. Pechter died on June 16 at his home of an apparent heart attack.
