Valencia, Hart Softball Teams On To Second Round Of CIF Playoffs

khts_sportsThe Valencia and Hart softball teams survived the first round of the CIF Southern Section Division I playoffs.

West Ranch and Saugus saw their seasons come to an end in the first round of playoffs.

Valencia beat Pacifica, 2-0, and Hart got past Agoura, 1-0. West Ranch lost to Esperanza, 3-0, and Saugus put up a tough fight, losing 3-2 to fourth-seeded Simi Valley.

Bad Gas Linked To Santa Clarita Station

pumpinggasA string of vehicle problems has been traced back to “bad gas” purchased last week at a local Chevron Station.

The gas was purchased at the Crista Chevron on the corner of Bouquet Canyon Road and Newhall Ranch Road last week according to officials.

Dave Gollatta, Operations Manager for Nation Distribution Services says the problem was caused by their driver who filled the stations tank with the wrong gas, and was not a problem with Chevron gas.

The Dodgers close out a two game mini series with a win against the Padres. Bad Pitching and throwing errors by the Padres helped the Dodgers score three runs at the bottom of the 6th inning. Military Claims Ownership Of Plane That Buzzed Santa Clarita

After a series of calls to the military, officials from Edwards Air Force Base have announced the plane that flew over Santa Clarita on May 4 was theirs.

“The plane was an F-16 with the flight ID number Jestr02,”said John Haire, Director of Media Relations for Edwards AFB.  “It was flying a proficiency flight from Edwards to Mugu [Air Force Base] and back that evening.”

According to Haire the plane flew an IRR flight, which means that it flew at standard altitude of 10,500 its entire trip.

buckmckeonCongressman Buck McKeon has announced that he is cosponsoring the National Day of Prayer Resolution, H.RES.1273, introduced by Congressman Lamar Smith of Texas. The resolution expresses that the National Day of Prayer is constitutional and is a needed tribute to the value of prayer. The resolution also acts as a fitting acknowledgement of our nation’s religious history.
