Supervisors Set To Vote On Council Of Governments Tuesday

khts_citymatters_scvlogoSanta Clarita may gain a little more influence in government matters if a motion on the County Board of Supervisors Agenda is approved on Tuesday.

Our city would join Burbank, Glendale, San Fernando and Los Angeles in the San Fernando Valley Council of Governments, a move that organizers hope will foster cooperation and create a greater sense of regional political identity for the area’s two million residents.

The Dodgers Get A Big Win Over The Tigers 4-1

The Tigers got on the board first and fast. Austin Jackson hit a lead off double in the top of the first inning. He then made it to third base on a throwing error. Reed Johnson hit a sacrifice fly, scoring Jackson. That was the only time a Tiger crossed home plate all night.

It took until the bottom of the fourth inning for the Dodgers to tie the score. They added two more unanswered runs in the bottom of the fifth and another in the bottom of sixth. With no more scoring, the Dodgers won the game 4-1. The Dodgers are now six games over 500 and tied for first in their division.

Sobriety Checkpoint Set For Weekend

khts_crime_genericThe Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station will be conducting a Driving Under the Influence checkpoint beginning at 7 p.m. Friday, May 21 and concluding at 3 a.m. Saturday May 22.

The goal of the checkpoint is to educate the community on the hazards of drunk driving while enforcing the DUI laws of the State of California. The checkpoint is an ongoing attempt to safely remove drunk drivers from our streets.
