Buy A Root Beer Float And Help A Fallen Deputy’s Family

camerongloverwbacaAll Ralphs grocery stores in the Santa Clarita Valley will be hosting a special donation event.

On Sunday, May 16 from 12 – 2 p.m. residents can purchase a root beer float for $2.00 and the proceeds will benefit fallen Sheriff’s Deputy Cameron Glover.

Ralphs will also be accepting donations during the event. The money raised will be given to the Cameron Glover Trust Fund.

Public Help Sought In Vehicle Burglaries

The man is believed to be responsible for a number of vehicle burglaries in the Stevenson Ranch area.

The suspect was captured on video surveillance checking door handles on vehicles parked in driveways on the 24900 block of Chicory Court, Stevenson Ranch.

Saugus Student's Artwork Headed For Capitol

congart10_4A show of hands will represent the 25th Congressional District in a unique Washington D.C. gallery, after the winner of the annual Congressional Art competition was named Thursday.

Darryl Naito, a senior at Saugus High School, created the woodblock print of two hands in various positions that was the top vote-getter from a field of more than two dozen pieces in all different media, from pencil sketches, watercolors, acrylics, photographs and pen and ink.

 

CHP Will Conduct DUI Checkpoint Tonight

Drinking and driving are a deadly combination and the CHP wants to create awareness to deter the public from driving under the influence.

The CHP Newhall Area Office will be conducting a DUI checkpoint somewhere in the unincorporated area of Los Angeles County from Friday 8:30 p.m. until Saturday 2:30 a.m.

The goal of the DUI checkpoints is to create awareness among the motoring public and to deter people from driving under the influence.

While I was grading theology papers the other day, I came across a questionable statement,  “rebirth is always progressive”.  I smiled to myself as two pictures came into my mind, pictures that were taken last Saturday in Aliso Canyon, documenting the rebirth that was occurring in the aftermath of last year’s destructive Station Fire.

Valencia Boys Volleyball Team Reaches CIF Quarterfinals

khts_sportsThe Valencia boys volleyball team are cruising in the CIF Southern Section Division II playoffs. Behind 15 kills from Eric Ensing, Valencia swept Villa Park in three games to advance to the quarterfinals.

But it wasn’t all good news for Valencia. Outside hitter Daniel Johnson is nursing a sprained ankle and might not play in Saturday’s match against Claremont, the Pacific League champs.
