Community Pitches In For Fallen Deputy’s Family

camerongloverwbadgeFundraisers around the city have collected thousands of dollars for Deputy Cameron Glover’s family. Glover, a patrol deputy assigned to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s station, was killed in an off-duty traffic accident April 28.

On Sunday, all seven Ralphs locations in Santa Clarita sold root beer floats to benefit Glover’s family. The two-hour event raised a total of $4,229.

Squirrel Takes Out Power To More Than 2000 In Saugus

squirrel02Never underestimate the power of wildlife. A single squirrel got into some primary power lines in Saugus and took out the power from 2,090 customers in a four-mile radius. Areas affected included homes off Seco Canyon Road above Copper Hill Drive.

 

Edison spokeswoman Ana Frutos-Sanchez said that the outage started at 9:45 a.m. and was resolved by crews switching circuits at 10:45.

 

 

Valencia, West Ranch, Hart Baseball Teams Headed To CIF Playoffs

sportshartThe Hart High baseball team found some timely power and pitching in the Foothill League season finale against Golden Valley. Behind a complete game, three-hitter from Alex Tenorio and three home runs, Hart beat Golden Valley, 12-1, and finished in third place in league.

Hart earned an automatic berth in the CIF Southern Section playoffs by finishing in the top three in the Foothill League.

The American Legion Holds Fundraiser

The event is scheduled from 5:30 – 11:00 p.m. and will feature BBQ food, country western music and dancing.

The American Legion was created in 1919 by Congress to benefit those who served during wartime.
