Residents In The Dark After Traffic Crashes - UPDATED

Two non-injury traffic accidents, one of them taking out a power pole near Canyon High School, left a large section of Santa Clarita in the dark early Monday morning, according to officials from the sheriff’s department and Edison.

Gunfire Shatters Sunday Night Calm, No Victims Found

khts_crimeGunfire erupted in a Canyon Country apartment parking lot Sunday night, but no one was hit, no victims have come forward and the suspect is still at large.

According to Sgt. Ron Price of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s station, at approximately 9:30 p.m., a man took issue with comments allegedly made by a resident or residents of the Sierra Apartments on Sierra Highway near Soledad Canyon Road.

Memorial_Day_FlagsSamuel Warner, a retired Lieutenant Colonel in the Army, began his military service in 1959 in the Naval Reserve, active duty in naval aviation.

He had been attending Valley College and working full time and figured the Naval Reserve would provide a rest.

“I got out, and forgot to go to meetings. A couple guys came down looking for me,” he said. “They gave me a choice; go to jail or go back into the service.”

EPA Requiring New Certification For Contractors

EPAlogoEffective April 23, all contractors who perform work on Pre- 1978 buildings must be Certified Firms.

Failure to take the eight hour class and pass the test could result in a fine from the EPA in the amount of $37,500.00 per the EPA’s Renovation, Repair and Painting Rule (40 CFR 745).

City Delivers Grants To Newhall Businesses

Summer Interns Assigned To County Parks

Antonovich that offers training, experience and opportunities working with the Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation at parks throughout the Fifth District including:

Local Marine Killed In Afghanistan

Korean War Vet Uses His Experiences For Good

jeremiaharmyguyheadshot2September 1951. The Korean War has been raging on for more than 12 months and Glen Huskey, a 18-year-old dairy farmer from Missouri, has just landed on the shores of South Korea.

“We landed with rounds to put in our weapons and did what it took to live,” said Huskey.

Glen and the rest of Fox Company 2nd Battalion were sent to the lines to replace members of 3rd Platoon.

Hit And Run Could Involve Vehicle Thefts
