    Two Critical After Newhall Drive-By Shooting

    Two men are hospitalized after a drive-by shooting in Newhall  Sunday night.

    Detectives from the Sheriff's Robbery and Assault team are investigating the incident that occurred at approximately 11:30 p.m. on 14th Street between Walnut and Chestnut Streets in Newhall.

     

    Canyon Country Man Dies In Agua Dulce Rollover Crash

    Dancing With Our Stars Is Fundraising Success

    DWOSAlexThe annual "Dancing With Our Stars" charity event, held Saturday at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza in Century City, raised more than $196,000 for 21 Santa Clarita Valley charities.

    Chaired by Linda Hafizi, Anna Ott and Candy Spahr, the event gave each charity an opportunity to raise money around an elegant event. Dancers were encouraged to solicit contributions prior to the event that would give them a "leg up" on the other dancers.

     

    Circle Of Hope Seeks New Executive Director

    khts_inthecommunityCircle of Hope, a nonprofit agency that gives support to individuals in treatment for breast cancer in the Santa Clarita, is looking for a new Executive Director. This part time paid position is open to those who live or work in the Santa Clarita Valley, have demonstrated success in organizational management, staff leadership, fundraising, flexible hours and a desire to further the mission and goals of the Circle of Hope.

     

    COC Nursing Program To Receive $10K Donation From Facey

    Dr. Fredrick Russo, President of Facey Medical, and members of the Facey Medical Foundation will visit College of the Canyons Tuesday to present a $10,000 check to the COC Foundation's Yvonne Wiggins Memorial Scholarship Endowment.

    Established by the Facey Medical Foundation in 2007 in memory of late Facey Medical nurse Yvonne Wiggins, with this donation the permanent scholarship endowment will have a current value of $20,800.

    The endowment's ongoing investment earnings will be used to provide scholarships to College of the Canyons nursing students.

    Good Grades Could Equal New Car For Hart District Students

    Volunteers Needed To Help Valencia High Seniors

    khts_givingbackVolunteers are needed to help evaluate senior projects at Valencia High School. The evaluation is the final step for graduating seniors and completes their Career Exploration Projects.

    The volunteers would need to be at the school from 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday, May 13 to conduct the evaluations.

    Checkpoint Yields One Arrest In Saugus

    khts_trafficalertOne arrest was made, two citations were issued and two vehicles were impounded during a DUI checkpoint in Saugus Friday night.

    The checkpoint was conducted in the northbound lanes of Bouquet Canyon Road at Wellston Drive.

     

     

    Valencia Baseball Team Back On Winning Track

    khts_sportsValencia's Justin Hanks pitched his team to a much-needed 7-2 win over a suddenly dangerous Golden Valley baseball team.

    Valencia avoided a three-game losing streak in Foothill League play and snapped Golden Valley's four-game winning streak. Jake Roberge provided the punch for Valencia, going 2-for-3, scored two runs and drove in one. Teammate Kyle Eaton was 2-for-4 with a double and scored two runs.

    April 25: Kings Eliminated From Playoffs, Lose To Canucks 4-2

    The Los Angeles Kings were defeated by the Vancouver Canucks Sunday night at Staples Center, by a final score of 4-2. The Kings are now eliminated from the Stanley Cup Playoffs, with the Canucks winning the series 4 games to 2. Congratulations to the Kings on an exciting season!
