Sheriff's Foundation Appreciation Night At Magic Mountain

Residents can have the chance on Friday, April 9 by joining the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Foundation for an exclusive party at Magic Mountain.

 

Tickets are being sold for $40 and get you an all day pass to the park that includes access to the park after hours from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Golden Valley Boys Volleyball Team Shocks Saugus

sportsgoldenvalleyThe Golden Valley boys volleyball team, playing without its starting setter, beat Saugus in five games.

Golden Valley won its first Foothill League match of the season after going winless in league play last year. Saugus lost its second league match in a row and is 0-2.

Pot Bust In Placerita Canyon

pot gunIn a multiagency sweep narcotics officers from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriffs Department and other agencies, conducted a marijuana eradication sweep this morning.

The operation took place in the Placerita Canyon area near the Placerita Canyon Nature Center around 9:30 a.m.

Going in to this game, the Kings needed to win 3 of their next 6 games to make it to the play-offs for the first time since 2002. Now, with a Calgary loss and a Kings win, the Kings could clinch Saturday night!

Sheriff's Cut Overtime To Save Millions

khts_budgetTop brass of the LA County Sheriff's Department could be answering your call or taking down an accident report.

The County of Los Angeles has asked the Sheriff's department to cut 9% of its net operating cost of $1.3 billion. One of the solutions is to cut down on overtime.

 

In the past month, the cuts have saved the department close to $8 million and no deputies were cut from our local station, but there are consequences.

Antonovich Praises Congressional Help With Firefighting Efforts

A change may be in the wind for multiagency firefighting efforts with new legislation proposed by Pasadena Congressman Adam Schiff.

The measures would require the U.S. Forest Service to lift a decades-old ban on nighttime and aerial firefighting, a cause Los Angeles County Supervisor Michael Antonovich has been supporting with extra vigor since the fatal Station Fire of last fall.

Hart District Cancels All Graduations

The decision comes in the wake of the cancellation of eighth-grade promotion ceremonies, which has junior high parents and students outraged.

Valencia Baseball Team Scores Early And Often Against Hart

Valencia scored five runs in the first inning.

Quincy Quintero provided the punch with a two-run home run in the first inning.

Valencia added two more runs in the second inning to build a 7-0 lead.

Shane Zeile hit a solo home run in the fourth inning for Valencia.
