The Wm. S. Hart Union High School District has launched a new web page designed to give visitors the most up-to-date information available on selection of a site for a future high school in Castaic. The site can be reached by typing into an internet browser or by clicking on the "Castaic Area High School" link in the Quick Links box on the district's home page.

Don't Feed The Plants: Cabrillo Music Theatre Puts On Little Shop Of Horrors

A tuneful, funny musical score meets a giant man-eating plant when Cabrillo Music Theatre's production of LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS devours the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza. One of the longest-running Off-Broadway shows of all time, with a hit movie and a Broadway revival to its credit, LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS takes root on Friday, April 23rd, 2010, and blossoms until Sunday, May 2nd.

Detectives Ask For Help With Residential Burglary Suspect

Cooper, Bridges To Be Honored On Walk Of Stars


Two more brass saddles will be installed in the sidewalks of Newhall along the Walk of Western Stars this month, celebrating the area's Western silver screen heritage.

Two-time Oscar winner Gary Cooper and the versatile Lloyd Bridges are being honored this year for their contributions to the industry that brought hoof beats to Main Street and left the area with a fondness for chaps and cowboy courtesy.


Arrest Made In Air Gun Crime Spree

khts_crimeA Valencia man is behind bars, suspected in more than 20 incidents of air gun-related vandalisms and assaults in Saugus, Canyon Country and Valencia dating back to August 2009.

Detectives had been working the case but had little to go on after 18 incidents occurred during an eight day period in August 2009 and the crimes just suddenly stopped.


Sierra Vista Student Puts Promotion Back On The Radar

kozakThe cancellation of eighth-grade promotion ceremonies at all junior high schools in the Santa Clarita valley has many students upset, but one Sierra Vista Junior High School student isn't taking the news lying down.

Hunter Kozak, 14, was set to graduate from Sierra Vista this June, and despite the cancellation, he plans to walk across a stage and receive a diploma along with his fellow students at the end of the school year.

Torlakson Makes SCV Appearance To Push Candidacy

torlaksonAssemblyman Tom Torlakson made an appearance at a house party Thursday night to promote his candidacy for State Superintendent of Public Instruction.

Hosted by Suzan Solomon, the gathering was attended by a smattering of educational players from across the valley, including those from parent and teacher organizations, school board members, school administrators and unions. Even a hopeful City Council candidate attended to see what the career politician had to say.
