Federal authorities recall all Simplicity full-size cribs

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is announcing the recall of all Simplicity full-size cribs with tubular metal mattress-support frames. This recall includes fixed-side and drop-side cribs. These cribs pose a risk of serious injury or death due to entrapment, strangulation, suffocation and fall hazards to infants and toddlers.

Valencia's Trey Williams Sets School Record With 3 HRs

khts_sportsValencia's Trey Williams set a school record hitting three home runs against West Ranch in a 15-5 win. Williams drove in six runs and hit home runs in the second, third and sixth innings.

His homer in the second inning was a two-run shot to give his team a 5-2 lead. He hit a three-run homer in the third inning to put Valencia on top, 9-2. He finished his home run barrage with a solo shot in the sixth inning.

Pitchess Fugitive Inmates Captured In Castaic

UPDATED 6:44 p.m. Wednesday - Two inmates who escaped from the Pitchess Detention Center early Wednesday morning were captured and returned to custody without incident Wednesday afternoon.

A 911 call to the Santa Clarita Valley station shortly after 5 p.m. tipped deputies off to the inmates' whereabouts.

Heroin Problem Focus Of Mother's Crusade

khts_crime_genericShe stood at the podium with her daughter, shaking as she read from a prepared statement. Krissy McAfee was there to ask the Santa Clarita City Council to do what they could to stop the proliferation of drugs - especially the heroin that recently killed her son, Trey Daniel Allen - noting that programs like Just Say No To Drugs and red ribbons "just don't work."

 

Six Flags Says Goodbye To Chapter 11

coasterSix Flags Inc has reached a settlement deal that should allow the park franchise to exit bankruptcy by as soon as next week.

The deal was reached between Six Flags Inc and their creditors and cuts the companies debt from approximately $2.7 billion to around $1.15 billion.  The move also eliminates the current shareholders, which has caused the stock to drop more than 50 percent.

Six Flags has been in Chapter 11 for almost a year.

Deputies Catch Two Prowlers With Stolen Car And Goods

khts_crimeA Castaic resident suspicious of a car driving around without its headlights early Wednesday morning called the sheriff and now, two burglars driving a stolen car with a back seat full of evidence are guests of the county.

Enrique Cortez, 32, and his little brother Reinaldo Cortez, 26, are both in jail on suspicion of felony auto theft, residential and vehicular burglary.

Santa Clarita Jumps On Tennis Wagon
