Mid-Day Assault

A Hart High student was assaulted yesterday afternoon while she walked home from the Valencia Town Center.

According to deputies the girl was hit with a beer bottle possibly thrown by the occupants of a white mid-size truck.  The incident occurred around 4:30 p.m.

The girl was struck in the upper chest and sheriffs are looking for anyone who was in the area and might have seen the incident.

"She came in crying with her shirt covered in the liquid," said the girl's father.  "She's never been hit like that before and was dumbfounded."

LA DA Cooley Opposes Marijuana Initiative On Ballot

Poisner To Address Republican Women Tuesday

StevePoisnerCalifornia Insurance Commissioner and 2010 gubernatorial candidate Steve Poizner will speak at the general meeting of the Santa Clarita Republican Women Federated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 20.

The meeting will be held at the International House of Pancakes, 24737 Pico Canyon Road in Stevenson Ranch. Cost is $12 for club members and $13 for non-members and includes lunch.

 

The Master's College Baseball Team Loses Pair Of Games To No. 9 Point Loma Nazarene

khts_sportsThe Master's College baseball team got a dose of its own medicine against Point Loma Nazarene, the ninth-ranked team in the NAIA.

The Master's College lost a pair of games to Point Loma Nazarene on Saturday after winning two earlier in the week.

The Mustangs lost the first game, 11-3, and the second game, 7-4. The Master's College beat Point Loma Nazarene by identical 4-3 scores on Wednesday and Thursday.

Bomb Squad Destroys Suspicious Package At McBean McDonalds

khts_crimeTraffic along McBean Parkway was disrupted for nearly two hours this afternoon as L.A. County Bomb Squad officers examined and destroyed a suspicious package found at McDonald's on McBean at Creekside Road.

Sgt. Dan Peacock of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's station said that deputies responded to the call at approximately 1:20 p.m. and found a device at the fast food restaurant that looked "real enough" for them to call in the Arson and Explosives squad.

Silver Anniversary Of Santa Clarita's Singing Students

The Santa Clarita Choral Educators Association will present its 25th Annual Choral Music Festival at 7 p.m., Tuesday, April 27, at Grace Baptist Church. Mayors Committee Talks About Diversity
