Breaking News: Two Minors Airlifted From Accident On 14 Freeway

khts_breakingnews2Highway 14 at Agua Dulce Canyon Road was shut down briefly Friday afternoon as two minors were airlifted to nearby a hospital following a traffic collision.

A CHP spokesperson said that all lanes of the 14 freeway were briefly shut down as the helicopter touched down and the two were loaded.

The accident happened around 4 p.m. on the northbound side of the freeway.

Legionnaires' Disease Case Confirmed At COC


The Valencia campus of College of the Canyons is getting an up-close and personal examination to ensure it remains a healthy place to learn.

What college officials are dealing with is the fact that one, and possibly two staff members, have confirmed cases of Legionnaires' disease. The third floor of the Seco Hall has been emptied and the building's innards are being tested for bacteria and hidden pools of standing water.

"This tragic case illustrates that it is essential to remove violent predators who attack children from the public at large and more closely supervise those who are released," Cooley wrote.


Local Teen Picked To Sing National Anthem At SCV Dodger Day

andreadodgerwinnerA Newhall resident has been chosen to sing the National Anthem at the 33rd annual SCV Dodger Day on May 8.

Andrea Lewis,18, almost missed the deadline to turn in her audition, but went on to beat out 38 other submissions.

She will sing the National Anthem as well as come back down to the field at Chavez Ravine to sing God Bless America during the seventh inning stretch.

District Attorney Against Parole For Manson Follower

District Attorney Steve Cooley urged the governor today to reject parole for 67-year-old Bruce Davis, the reputed second in command of the Charles Manson family who was convicted of murdering two people in 1969.

Although Davis was never charged with the killings of actress Sharon Tate and six others, he was tried and convicted of the murders of a musician in Topanga Canyon and a Spahn Ranch hand around the same time in 1969. He was sentenced to two life terms. A Board of Parole hearing panel in January found him suitable for parole.
