Canyon Faces Paramount In CIF Soccer Semifinal

sportscanyonThe Canyon boys soccer team travels to Paramount in the CIF Southern Section Division III semifinals today. Canyon is coming off a 2-1 win over Great Oak.

Paramount, the San Gabriel League champions, beat Savanna, 2-1, in the quarterfinals.

In the other Division III semifinal game, Coachella Valley plays at Santa Ana Valley.

Dog Park Hosts Pet Vaccination Clinic

dogThe City of Santa Clarita will be hosting its annual Pet Vaccination Clinic at the newly opened Sports Complex's Canine Country Dog Park.

Offering low-cost vaccinations and free micro-chipping for dogs, the clinic will run from 8:00 to 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 13.

Illegal Immigration Stirring Up SCV

The organization Save Our State (SOS) held a rally Saturday to speak out against illegal immigration in the state of California.

The group was met by protesters claiming SOS hosted racist members. Protesters created a flyer calling for support to "Shut Down The Hate-Rally." The flyer continued to describe the SOS rally as "sanctioned racism, bigotry, and hate."

Saugus Girls Soccer Team Bounced From CIF Playoffs

sportslocalThe Saugus girls soccer team will not repeat as champions of the CIF Southern Section Division II playoffs.

Saugus, the 2009 Division II champions, lost to Flintridge Sacred Heart, 3-2, and was eliminated in the quarterfinals.
Bianca Lorenz and Shasta Fisher gave Saugus a 2-0 lead with goals in the first half, but Flintridge Sacred Heart scored three goals in the second half to advance to the semifinals.
