February 4th: Kings Beat Ducks 6-2

Thurday, the Kings welcomed the Ducks to the Staples Center. At the beginning of the 3rd period, LA was up 4 to 2 then the Ducks came back to tie it 4-4. Dustin Brown scored a goal to make it 5 to 4 then with just seconds left in regulation, Anze Kopitar knocked another goal in leading the Kings to a 6-4 victory. The Kings have won their last 8 games.

 

Saturday, the Kings face the Detroit Red Wings at the Staples. Catch that game LIVE on AM-1220 KHTS beginning at 12:30 PM!

McKeon Votes Against National Debt Increase

buckmckeonRep. Howard P. "Buck" McKeon voted against legislation today to raise the debt ceiling on national debt to $14,294,000,000,000, an increase of $1.9 trillion dollars.  The Democrats' measure passed 217-212.

Nine COC Football Players Commit To Four-Year Programs

sportslocalJosh Gibbs, a Valencia High graduate who played at College of the Canyons last year, is one of four COC football players headed to NCAA Division I schools next year.

Gibbs, a defensive back, signed a letter of intent to play at the University of Kentucky on national signing for college football recruits.

Santa Clarita Christian Girls Soccer Team Ties Viewpoint, 1-1

news_sportsThe Santa Clarita Christian girls soccer team played to a 1-1 draw against Viewpoint.

Amanda Doty gave Santa Clarita Christian a 1-0 lead, scoring on a corner kick.

Viewpoint tied the game on a goal late in the second half.

In college basketball, The Master's College men beat Azusa Pacific, 65-62. Four players from The Master's College scored in double figures. Joey Fuca led the team with 17 points.

Get out those umbrellas and rain boots because another storm will be barreling through tonight.The National Weather Service issued a special weather statement for a new storm that will last through Saturday and could bring up to three inches of rainfall.

Draft EIR Issued For Landmark Village In Newhall Ranch

Newhall Land officials today released a draft environmental impact report on the Landmark Village project, the first of four villages planned as part of the Newhall Ranch development.

The release opens a 45-day comment period that precedes the developer's request for approval from the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, which is scheduled sometime in mid-year. The overall Newhall Ranch Specific Plan was approved by the board in 2003; the draft village EIR gives the county a vehicle to ensure that the Landmark plans are in sync with the plan approved seven years ago.
