Defibrillators Recalled Due To Malfunction

khts_recallsCardiac Science Corporation is initiating a worldwide voluntary recall after determining that approximately 12,200 automated external defibrillators (AEDs) may not be able to deliver therapy during a resuscitation attempt, which may lead to serious adverse events or death. These AEDs were manufactured in a way that makes them potentially susceptible to failure under certain conditions. The FDA has been informed of this situation.


COC Ice Hockey Team Wins PCHA Championship

sportslocalThe College of the Canyons ice hockey team won the Pacific Coast Hockey Association championship over the weekend in Lake Tahoe. COC beat Santa Clara University, 13-4, in the semifinals.

In the championship game, COC beat Cal State Northridge, 6-4, for its second straight Adams Cup championship.

COC goalie Mike McGrath was awarded the PCHA goalie of the year.


KHTS Schedules Maintenance For Transmitter

KHTS AM-1220 serves the greater Santa Clarita Valley.

Between the hours of 12:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. Tuesday February 9, 2010, KHTS AM-1220 will be off the air in order to conduct maintenance on our transmitter.

Suspected Drunk Driver Levels Power Pole Near Placerita


A 37-year old man is behind bars this morning, suspected of driving under the influence and crashing into a power pole Sunday night.

According to Sgt. Ronald Price of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's station, Victor Alvara hit a power pole on Sierra Highway at Placerita Canyon Road around 10:30 p.m. Deputies arrested him on suspicion of drunk driving and booked him at the Santa Clarita Valley station, where is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail.

Monday, the Kings faced the Ducks at the Honda Center. After winning 9 games in a row, LA came up short and lost to the Ducks. The final was 4 to 2.

The view is going to get a lot nicer on Soledad Canyon Road where the Golden Valley Bridge spans overhead. Huge outdoor murals will soon be placed under the bridge that reflect the arts in Santa Clarita.


Rain Expected To Return On Tuesday

Clouds are expected to gather tonight, bringing showers Tuesday morning and a possibility of thunderstorms in the afternoon.


Temperatures are expected to be in the mid-50s to the low 60s.
