Vasquez Canyon Road To Close Tuesday For Construction

khts_trafficalertThe County of Los Angeles Department of Public Works (Public Works) has scheduled a full closure for Vasquez Canyon Road.  The closure is necessary to secure public safety during a stage I construction procedure.  The date and time of this closure is subject to change.

The schedule is as follows:

CIF Football Playoffs - December 5th, 2009

Saturday, Valencia faced  Moorpark in Round 4 of the CIF Southern Section Northern Division Football Playoffs.

Valencia's season came to an end with Moorpark defeating the Vikings 40 to 14.

KHTS Radio congratulates the Valencia Vikings for a fantastic football season.

 

Santa Clarita Christian Wins Championship

Saturday, Santa Clarita Christian defeated Faith Baptist to clinch the CIF Southern Section 8-Man Division-One Football Championship for the 2nd year in a row. The final score was 38 to 22.

Congratulations to the Cardinals.

Valencia Library Set To Close Until February

The Valencia Library will undergo a remodel starting Monday.

The library will be closed until February 1, 2010, but a bookmobile will be stationed in the parking lot for users to pick up items on hold.  Books that need to be returned can be placed in the book drop outside the library.

The makeover will equip the facility with a teen area, additional computers, self-checkout stations and a new circulation and reference desk.

Guests are encouraged to use Canyon Country, Newhall, and Castaic libraries during the remodel.

Roads In Angeles National Forest May Close With Rain

khts_caltrans4The Los Angeles County Department of Public Works has advised that all County roads within the Station Fire burn area may be closed to public access later this week in the event of forecasted rainstorms.

Public Works, the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans), the U.S. Forest Service, and the National Weather Service are monitoring an approaching cold front that is threatening the burn area with storm activity, possibly as early as Sunday.

slimfastartnewUnilever United States, Inc., in cooperation with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), is conducting a nationwide voluntary recall of all Slim-Fast® ready-to-drink (RTD) products in cans, due to the possibility of contamination with Bacillus cereus, a micro-organism, which may cause diarrhea and possibly nausea and/or vomiting. The probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote.

The products were sold in stores nationwide.

 

Metrolink Toy Train To Visit SCV Twice

khts_holidayspecialThe City of Santa Clarita invites community members to greet the Metrolink Holiday Toy Express as it make two stops in Santa Clarita to give holiday performances and collect donations for the "Spark of Love" toy drive.

The festively decorated train will stop at the Newhall Metrolink station on Friday, December 4 at 7:30 p.m. and the Via Princessa Metrolink station on Sunday, December 20 at 8:15 p.m.
