Canyon Boys Basketball Team Sees Winning Streak Come To An End

sportscanyonThe Canyon boys basketball team had its six-game winning streak snapped, 47-45, to Highland last night. Wesley Bartole scored a team-high 13 points for Canyon.

The Canyon boys, off to a great 8-3 start, have a bit of a break. They will begin play in the Ventura Tournament the day after Christmas.


Prostitution, Numerous Other Violations Found In Local Massage Parlors

khts_crimeSheriff's investigators have been busy in the last month trying to stop the proliferation of massage parlors, resulting in more than a few places closing their doors.

"In the last few years, the City has seen an increase in the number of massage parlors opening up in the city limits. Currently we believe there are approximately 40 of these locations that exist," said Sgt. A.J. Rotella, who heads the Santa Clarita Valley station's Business Relations Unit.

Angeles Forest Roads Subject Of Public Meeting

County of Los Angeles Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich has called for a special public outreach meeting for residents in the Antelope Valley regarding the County's road management program of Angeles Forest area roads during the winter rain season.

In addition to the Angeles Forest roads management update, County officials will also discuss the construction worked scheduled for the final phases of the $3.4 million road improvement project for Sierra Highway from State route 14 to Pearblossom Highway.

Angels ace pitcher John Lackey is closing the book on an eight-year tenure in the Los Angeles area, agreeing to terms for a five-year deal with the Boston Red Sox. This, reported from, means that Lackey will bolster the Red Sox starting rotation, which already includes heavyweights Josh Beckett and Jon Lester.
