Small Fire Doused In Canyon Country

A small 50 ft by 50 ft grass fire caused some commotion near Sand Canyon Road and Soledad Canyon Rd. at 5:00 Tuesday night.

Firefighters were able to make quick work of the fire, and no injuries were reported.

McKeon Staff To Host Health Care Bill Reading Rooms

Congressman Buck McKeon wants local constituents to see the nearly 2,000 page health care bill being considered by the legislature.

McKeon is providing a copy of the bill for all district public libraries in the Santa Clarita, Antelope and Victor Valleys, including Barstow, for the public's perusal.

 

In addition, McKeon's staff will hosts a bill reading room from 2 to 4 p.m. Wednesday at the Valencia and Lancaster libraries.

Local Students Sing Opera

khts_schools_chalkboardThe Los Angeles Opera is bringing a version of their production to elementary schools in Santa Clarita.

The L.A. Opera has been working with children from Helmers, Castaic, North Park and Leona Cox elementary schools to produce a 45 minute version of Mozart's famous composition "The Marriage of Figaro," called the "Marriage of Figueroa."

The Master's College Men's Soccer Team Wins First GSAC Championship

sportslocalThe Master's College men's soccer team got a gift goal off a free kick and another goal by Marlon Lindo in a 2-1 win over Biola in a matchup of NAIA top 25 teams.

With the win, The Master's College, No. 14 in the NAIA, captured the Golden State Athletic Conference championship, the first in school history.

 

November 2nd: Kings Defeat Coyotes 5-3

Monday, the Kings were in Phoenix to face the Coyotes. The Kings fell behind in the 2nd period but were able to score in the 3rd to secure a win. 5 to 3 was the final.

 

The Kings return to the Staples on Thursday to play Piisburgh. Catch that game LIVE on AM-1220 KHTS beginning at 7PM.

Search For Local Girl Yields No Answers

It has been one week since the family of Brigett Kennemore last heard from her. The 18 year-old Valencia High School student went missing last Monday after exiting a bus near Hasley Canyon Rd. and Cambridge Ave in Castaic.

Her family believes that Brigett exited the bus in an area she is unfamiliar with after a break up with her boyfriend.

 

Saugus Girls Volleyball Team Wins Crescenta Valley Tournament

sportslocalThe Saugus girls volleyball team won the Crescenta Valley Tournament, beating Pasadena Poly, 2-0, in the championship match.

Jaclyn Clark earned tournament most valuable player honors with 72 kills and 66 digs in seven matches over the weekend. Ashley Guthrie and Taylor Schubert made the all-tournament first team for Saugus.

 

U.S. Humane Society Honors Assemblyman Cameron Smyth
