    Hart District Gets New Assistant Superintendent

    The new assistant superintendent of human resources and student services at the  William S. Hart Union High School District is no newcomer to district operations.

    Robert Gapper, the district's current chief operations officer, has been appointed by the Governing Board to replace current assistant superintendent Rochelle Neal, who is retiring in January.

    Antonovich Criticizes Union Action Against Metrolink Cameras

    On Friday, the union representing train drivers filed lawsuits in state and federal court against the installation of video cameras inside locomotive cabs. The union contends that the cameras violate the Railway Labor Act, federal wiretap laws and the Federal Rail Safety Act of 1970.

    Metrolink Director, Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich criticized the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen for their actions.

    Wednesday, the Dodgers' post season and hopes of going to the World Series came to end as the Philadelphia Phillies defeated the Dodgers 10-4. The Phillies are the 2009 National League Champions - having captured the pennant after five games against the Dodgers and will head to the 2009 World Series to face the winner of the ALCS.

    Measure SA Oversight Group Applications Due Friday

    khts_schools_chalkboardThe deadline is rapidly approaching for citizens interested in filing vacancies on the Hart School District's Measure SA Citizens' Oversight Committee. The committee reviews use of funds from the local school construction bond passed by voters in 2008 and reports to the public on whether the funds are spent as required by law.

    All applications must be submitted to the District Office no later than 4 p.m. Friday, October 23.
