Unclosed Valve Drops Water Pressure In Canyon Country


It was operator error that left some Canyon Country residents without water pressure Friday morning.

Mauricio Guardato of the Santa Clarita Water Company said that an employee doing routine maintenance of a tank at the top of Whites Canyon Road did not completely close a valve at the tank site, causing pressure to drop at around 4 a.m. when residents started taking showers and sprinklers came on.

Amgen Tour Skips Santa Clarita This Year

amgen09lanceinlineThe host cities for Amgen Tour of California professional cycling road race were announced this morning and Santa Clarita gets a bye this time around.

The announcement was made via Twitter around 9 a.m. today, involving Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and cyclists Lance Armstrong, Levi Leipheimer, Dave Zabriskie and George Hincapie, who all agreed to participate.

Tolerance Speakers Bring Powerful Story To Saugus High


Two men who have made a difference in the lives of hundreds of people after sharing their stories at the Museum of Tolerance and in a film shown by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department SHARE Tolerance program will visit Saugus High School Tuesday night to talk about discrimination and hate crimes.



Be The Change Saturday At Make A Difference Day

hosclogo_001The list is long, but the volunteers are willing.....and more than 1,500 are expected to turn out Saturday morning to grab a coffee and muffin before heading out to work on Make A Difference Day 2009, Santa Clarita's ninth annual involvement in a national day of service.

City Volunteer Coordinator Susana Coronel said that she's received applications from people of all ages willing to do whatever's needed and Coronel has almost 60 projects from which they can pick.
