Saugus Girls Win Mt. SAC Invitational Cross Counry Meet

sportslocalThe Saugus girls cross country team won the Mt. SAC Invitational. It was the fourth Grand Sweepstakes Champion title in a row for the Saugus girls.

Karis Frankian was the top runner for Saugus, finishing second overall. Kaylin Mahoney was tripped and trampled on at the beginning of the race, but recovered and finished ninth overall.


A Day In Their Paws Offers Shelter Experience

dayinkenneltwoEver wonder what the life of a shelter dog is like? Volunteers of The Brittany Foundation, a no-kill dog rescue in Agua Dulce, will find out during "A Day in Their Paws" on November 7 and 8.

The Los Angeles Kings returned to the Staples Center Sunday to face Columbus. The Kings maintained a comfortable lead and were able to defeat the Blue Jackets 6 to 2.

Art Classic Winners Announced

artclassic_viewingThe Santa Clarita Artists' Association hosted its 20th Art Classic Show at Hart Park on October 18.

The event, which sold and showcased art from more than 60 exhibitors, awarded participants in a host of categories.

Best in show went to Sean Bain, shown here with his Cross artwork.

Tutor Time Locations Holding Harvest Festivals

khts_inthecommunity2Two Tutor Time locations in Santa Clarita are holding Harvest Festival events on Friday October 30, from 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

The events are open to the public and will include food, beverages, games, a bounce house, treasure hunt, pumpkin decorating and a bake sale. Children and parents are encouraged to come in costume, as prizes will be awarded.


Hugh Hewitt Coming To Santa Clarita

Conservative talk show host to speak at Robinson Ranch.

Santa Clarita Republican Women Federated is behind a planned event starring Hugh Hewitt.

Hewitt, a former writer for Nixon and current conservative evangelical Christian radio talk show host, will speak at Robinson Ranch Tuesday October 27. Tickets had been available for the event for $75.


Hornaday Extends Lead In NASCAR Truck Series Standings

sportslocalRon Hornaday Jr. finished fourth in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Martinsville Speedway in Virginia on Saturday and extended his lead in the Truck Series standings.

Hornaday leads second place Matt Crafton by 224 points with four races remaining in the Truck Series season.
