Bands Of America Competition Set Saturday At COC

If you're hearing the sounds of a marching band wafting in the wind today, it's probably competitors from the Bands of America Championships being held at College of the Canyons.

More than 30 high school marching bands from California, Texas, Nevada and Arizona are pitched against each other, note for note, flag for flag, hoping to be the winners of the championship to be awarded at the end of the evening.

Valencia, Hart Football Teams Clash For First Place In Foothill League

Hart, the 10th-ranked team in the CIF Southern Section Northern Division, winners of three straight games and undefeated against league opponents, takes on Valencia, the No. 2 team in the Northern Division and owners of a perfect 7-0 record.


October 29th: Kings Lose To Vancouver 2-1

Thursday, the Kings returned to the Staples for a game against Vancouver. The Kings and Kanuks were tied 1-1 at the end of the 3rd period. The Kings lost to Vancouver in a shootout 2 to 1.


Kings will see action next Monday as they faceoff against the Phoenix Coyotes. Catch that game LIVE on AM-1220 beginning at 5:30 PM.

Skeletal Remains From Riverbed Identified


Coroner's officials have identified the remains found two weeks ago in the Santa Clarita River.

Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter said that the remains are those of 48-year-old Robert March Fields. The remains, which were mostly skeletal, were found October 15 in a brushy area of the riverbed near the South Fork Trail.


Wildlife Is His Muse

artThe Santa Clarita Artists' Association will feature wildlife artist, Marty Katon at their November 16 meeting.

Animal lovers of all ages are invited to come to this demonstration that starts at 7 p.m.

Martin Katon lived with Native Americans and rescued wild animals which are subjects of his paintings.
