    National Call For Photos Seeks Vietnam Era Images

    The Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund is looking for some photographs to share with visitors to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial - often referred to simply as "The Wall" - in Washington D.C. that bears the names of more than 58,000 men and women who gave their lives for their country during the Vietnam war.

    The National Call for Photos was launched last week in an effort to reach families of those honored and solicit their photographs.

     

    UPDATED: Guiberson Fire Sends Smoke Toward SCV

    Santa Clarita residents smelled smoke with no sign of flames once again last night, this time due to the Guiberson Fire, which broke out Tuesday morning in Ventura County.

    The fire has now consumed 16,400 acres between Fillmore and Moorpark. More than 1,831 firefighting personnel are working the blaze, which is currently 40 percent contained.

    To helpwaterdebate voters decide who to pick in the upcoming November elections, a trifecta of Santa Clarita Valley media - KHTS AM 1220, The Signal newspaper and SCVTV - have organized two candidate forums.

    The first was held Wednesday night in the Newhall studios of SCVTV and involved candidates for the College of the Canyons and the Newhall County Water District.

    Representative Howard "Buck" McKeon plans to host a Health Care Town Hall meeting at the Main Gym at College of the Canyons at 9:00 a.m. on September 26. At the meeting, McKeon expects to answer questions from constituents regarding health care proposals currently before the Congress and his stance on the issue.

    Heisman Winner And Former NFL Quarterback Ty Detmer To Speak In Santa Clarita

    The public has been invited to meet Ty Detmer and hear him speak and answer questions as he visits the Santa Clarita Valley on Sunday, September 27.

    Ty Detmer won the Heisman Trophy, college football's highest honor, in 1990 while playing college football at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. His final college football career statistics included 1,530 pass attempts; 958 completions; 15,031 passing yards; 121 touchdown passes; 14,665 yards of total defense; 135 total touchdowns and a 162.7 passer rating. All of these totals established NCAA national records at the time.
