Evacuation Tips

If you have only moments before evacuating your home during an emergency, the American Red Cross recommends you grab the following items and go:

* Medical supplies: prescription medications and dentures
* Disaster supplies: flashlight, batteries, radio, first aid kit, bottled water
* Clothing and bedding: a change of clothes and a sleeping bag or bedroll and pillow for each household member
* Car and house keys, as well as keys to the place you may be going.

Saugus High Girls Cross Country Ranked No. 1 In National Poll

news_sportsThe Saugus High girls cross country team earned the No. 1 ranking in the Mile Split preseason national rankings.

Saugus won its third straight state championship last year. Led by junior Kaylin Mahoney, the reigning Division II state champion, Saugus has four returners from last year's team. Stephanie Bulder, Karis Frankian and Amber Murakami join Mahoney on a talented team.

 

September 2nd: Dodgers Lose To Arizona 4-1

Wednesday, LA lost at Dodgers Stadium against the Diamondbacks. 4 to 1 was the final.

Another Marijuana Dealer Behind Bars After Wakeup Call

Another wakeup call for drug dealers took a significant amount of marijuana off the market and landed suspected cultivator and dealer Sonny Greenback behind bars.

For the second time this week, Narcotics Bureau detectives working in our valley took down a suspected drug dealer.

 

Hart Students Improve CAHSEE Scores Again

At least 90 percent of tenth graders in the William S. Hart Union High School District pass the California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE) on their first try, according to figures released today by the California Department of Education. Like the state, students in the Hart District have made small gains in the number of students who pass the test when they take it the first time, compared to last year.

 

Air Quality Still Keeping Kids Inside

Hart District officials are continuing to keep a close eye on air quality in the Santa Clarita Valley, with the Station Fire still burning nearby.

 

PE classes continue to be held indoors, with no strenuous activity allowed.

After school practices have also been canceled throughout the district, unless they take place in a sealed facility with re-circulated air.

Assembly Prisoner Bill Passes

news_politicsIt's not what Republicans were hoping for, but a slightly less offensive bill passed the Assembly Monday with a 41-35 vote that would allow for the early release of thousands of "nonviolent" inmates from California prisons to help close a $1.2 billion gap in the corrections budget.
