Cereal Recalled From Walmart Stores


A popular cereal distributed nationwide by Walmart stores has been recalled because it may contain undeclared almonds.

Gilster-Mary Lee Corp, of Chester, IL is recalling a single lot of 21oz. Great Value Berry Crunch cereal. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to almonds or tree nuts may run the risk of a serious allergic reaction if they consume these products.

Last week, a friend shared her photos from a trip to the wineries around Santa Barbara.  She included a few photos of a tarantula she found in a winery patio.  This reminded me of the classic opening line to a joke:  a (fill-in-the-blank) walks into a bar...  I wonder if any of these jokes would work with a tarantula?  They'd have to be both funny and accurate.  You be the judge of how funny they are.


Valencia Football Team Easily Handles Birmingham, 56-31

Valencia, the No. 3 team in the CIF Southern Section Northern Division poll, jumped out to a 49-7 halftime lead. Brock Vereen caught three passes for 73 yards and two touchdowns for Valencia (2-0).

Highway Heroes Hammer For Habitat

chplogo_copyThe California Highway Patrol is bringing down the hammer on Saturday.

Three area of the CHP - Newhall, West Valley and Altadena - have accepted a challenge from The Gas Company to build linear fencing and create backyards for 11 homes in a Habitat for Humanity neighborhood building project in Pacoima. The winning station will have a donation of $2,500 made to Habitat in their name.

Oversized Nitrogen Tanker Travels Under Cover Of Darkness

nitrotank1A 156-foot nitrogen tank traveled through the Santa Clarita Valley on its way to Edwards Air Force Base Wednesday night. The move had to be done when traffic was minimal on surface streets.

Overall, the tank and trailer is just short of 298 feet long. The final destination of the tank will be Vandenberg Air Force Base.



The tanker started out in Port Hueneme and was first caught on film at Newhall Ranch Road and Avenue Tibbetts.

FDA Warns Consumers Not to Use Stolen Albuterol Sulfate Inhalation Solution and Ipratropium Bromide Inhalation Solution

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration today advised consumers not to use certain respiratory medications purchased after Sept. 8, 2009 and manufactured by Dey L.P., a subsidiary of Mylan Inc., because the medications might have been part of a shipment being transported on a tractor-trailer stolen in Tampa, Fla., on Sept. 8, 2009.


Teacher Of The Year Chosen For The Hart District

Jennifer Huhn, a special education teacher at Golden Valley High School, has been named Teacher of the Year for the William S. Hart Union High School District.

She will represent the district in the Los Angeles County competition, which is part of the California Teacher of the Year program.
