    Accused Drunk Driver Facing Murder Charges Appears In Court

    Marco Antonio Valencia, who is accused of killing cyclist Joseph Novotny on July 11 made an appearance in San Fernando Superior Court today, where his case was continued until October 28.

     

     

    Toyota To Issue Largest Recall Ever

    One of the world's largest carmakers will issue its largest recall of vehicles after a crash found floor mats could interfere with the accelerator pedals and cause a crash.

    Toyota officials will recall 3.8 million vehicles in the United States and advise owners of Toyota and Lexus vehicles to remove their driver's side floor mats and not replace them.

     

    Local Student Turns Published Author

    Many publishers will argue that teen boys don't read and because of that they choose to target other demographics. A local student has gone against the grain and written a book just for that audience.

    Matthew Stromberg, 21, of Saugus, has written a fantasy adventure book titled "Tales of the Golden Kingdom."

    TimBen Boydston Will Run For City Council

    timbenboydstonFormer interim Council member will be looking for a spot in April's election.

    TimBen Boydston, Executive Director of the Canyon Theatre Guild and community advocate, has officially decided to enter the race for Santa Clarita City Council.

    Boydston held a temporary seat on the City Council through most of 2007 and part of 2008 after he was appointed by the Council to fill the vacancy created when Cameron Smyth was elected to the state Assembly.

    Soledad Canyon Road Gets A Face Lift

    Construction is expected to last a month but won't cost the city a penny.

    The drive for Canyon Country residents will be a little smoother starting in October because of the city's Roadway Asphalt Rehabilitation Project.

    The project will repair the road along Soledad Canyon Road between Sierra Highway and Sand Canyon Road.

    Construction is expected to begin October 5, and last through November.

    The Master's College Women's Soccer Team Wins Fifth Game In A Row

    news_sportsThe Master's College women's soccer team scored two second-half goals and beat Point Loma Nazarene, 2-1, in a match-up of NAIA top-25 teams.

    Bobbie Roberts had a goal and an assist for the 14th ranked Mustangs, winners of five straight games. Her goal in the 78th minute was the game-winner in the Golden State Athletic Conference opener for both teams.

    An instructional assistant at Rio Norte Junior High was arrested Friday in Kern County, along with her daughter, for offering sexual favors on the internet.

    Monday, the Dodgers wrapped up a four game series with the Pirates losing 11 to 1.
