    Boundary Adjustment Meetings For Newhall, Mountainview, Mint Canyon Residents

    altHart District holding three meetings for residents.

     

    Three meetings have been announced by the William S. Hart District to discuss boundary adjustments in three areas which will be presented to the Hart District Governing Board for approval in September.  Additionally, officials will discuss the impact of alternative proposals suggested by parents who attended the district's first informational meeting in June.

     

    Vasquez Canyon Road To Close Monday

    khts_caltransThe County of Los Angeles Department of Public Works (Public Works) has scheduled a full closure for Vasquez Canyon Road. The closure is necessary to remove the interim bridge on Vasquez Canyon Road and begin construction of the new permanent bridge.

    The date and time of the closure is scheduled is as follows:

    New Schedule For I-5, Highway 14 Lane Closures

    The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will close the following lanes, ramps, connectors and collector roads of the Antelope Valley Freeway (SR-14), the Foothill Freeway (I-210) and the Golden State Freeway (I-5) as part of a $161-million improvement project to construct High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV or carpool) lanes and a direct HOV lane connector at the I-5/SR-14 interchange from Sunday, August 23, through Friday, August 28.

    Who among us hasn't hit their head?  Whether it's a cabinet door left open or a slippery banana peel, we all know what it feels like.  IT HURTS!

    But woodpeckers are constantly banging their heads against trees.  We often hear Acorn woodpeckers and Nuttall's woodpeckers pounding on trees to get at the tasty insects lying beneath the bark.

    SigAlert Over For Northbound I-5

    khts_trafficalertA SigAlert was issued for the northbound I-5 just past the Hasley Canyon exit in the Santa Clarita Valley  Friday afternoon due to two right lanes being closed.

    Caltrans had to conduct emergency road maintenance in the area and the SigAlert was in effect until 9 p.m.

    All lanes were clear by the time of the SigAlert's cancellation.

    Hart High Grad Kyle Boller Gets Start At QB For St. Louis Rams

    news_sportsHart High graduate Kyle Boller is expected to start at quarterback tonight for the St. Louis Rams in their preseason game against the Atlanta Falcons.

    Boller was brought in to back-up Marc Bulger, but Bulger has a broken pinkie finger on his throwing hand. Boller will most likely start the next two preseason games at quarterback for the Rams.

    Sheriff Asking Public's Help In Catching Vending Machine Vandals

    videoonesuspectDetectives from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff Station's Burglary and Theft Team are investigating six incidents of burglary from vending machines at local schools, dating back to July 10.  Detectives have obtained some video footage of the suspects and a possible vehicle and are seeking public assistance in identifying and locating those responsible for the crimes.
