Gang Members Arrested For Assaulting Two In Canyon Country

Not unusual for Concerts In the Park, a free summer music series put on by the City of Santa Clarita, but last Saturday night, the sea included wave after wave after wave of music fans as far as the eye could see.

 

Auditions Announced For COC Theater Season

The College of the Canyons Theatre Department is holding auditions for five of next season's biggest productions, which include Broadway, Shakespeare and a variety of other genres.

"We have a very exciting season planned for this year and are hoping for a large turnout at the auditions for all of our productions," said Paul Wickline, chair of the college's theatre department. "We are looking for a talented, multicultural cast for director Randee Trabitz' concept of 'HAIR' and a smaller cast for the powerful drama 'Keely and Du' directed by Susan Hinshaw."

There a lot of myths and gimmicks in the sports world on how to improve an athlete's vertical jump. The truth is that athletes who are looking to improve their vertical leaping abilities need to incorporate a well-designed sports performance training routine.

While visiting one of four major fires burning in California, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger continued to shuffle state resources to provide firefighting assistance. This is the latest in a series of moves the Governor has made to ensure that the 2009 fire season, one of the driest in recent history, can be met head on.

 

Carpool Lane Construction Includes Lane Closures

khts_caltransCaltrans will close the following lanes, ramps, connectors and collector roads of the Antelope Valley Freeway (SR-14) and the Golden State Freeway (I-5) as part of a $161-million improvement project to construct High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV or carpool) lanes and a direct HOV lane connector at the I-5/SR-14 interchange. Closures are subject to change.

R.J. Johnson Wins S2 Stock Car Race At Irwindale

west_series_coloradoR.J. Johnson of Canyon Country won his first race in the new S2 stock car division at Toyota Speedway at Irwindale on Saturday night.

Johnson has four wins in the NASCAR Super Trucks division at the track. The new S2 stock cars made their debut at Irwindale with an exhibition race on the Fourth of July and have raced three times since then. Johnson has been in three of the first four S2 races in addition to racing in the Super Trucks division.
