Saugus High Grad Posts Top 10 Finish in SCGA Golf Tournament

sportslocalNick Delio, a Saugus High graduate and member of the Cal State Northridge golf team, finished in the top 10 at the Southern California Golf Association Amateur Championship at Wilshire Country Club over the weekend.

Delio shot an even par 284 over the four-day tournament to finish in a tie for eighth in the tournament. He was six shots behind Austin Graham of San Clemente, who won the tournament.

Teen Hit, Injured By Vehicle On Bouquet Canyon

A 16-year old Santa Clarita resident was hit and seriously injured in the intersection in front of Jack In the Box on Bouquet Canyon Road on Monday afternoon.

According to a press release issued by the Sheriff's Department, the boy was crossing southbound traffic on Bouquet Canyon towards the restaurant when a vehicle driven by Denise Alvarado of Palmdale turned out of a driveway and started to accelerate. The victim ran in front of Alvarado's car and she was unable to avoid him.

Heat To Continue One Day More

Dodgers Win 7-5

The Dodgers win over the Cincinnati Reds with a score of 7-5.  
The win gives the Dodgers a record of 18 wins out of 21 meeting with the Reds, since 2006.

The win also puts them at 25 games over 500 for the first time this year.

Narcotics Dealer Nabbed On His Way Home


Narcotics detectives working the Santa Clarita Valley station took down another suspected drug dealer on July 14.

The suspect location in the 24100 block of St. Moritz Drive in Valencia was the subject of numerous online and telephone tips to the SCV station about the suspected sale of drugs.

Sheriff's Officials Crackdown On Parolee Compliance

The operation is part of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff Station's on-going proactive efforts to ensure that convicted felons living in the valley are in compliance with the terms and conditions of their parole, after release from state prison.
