YMCA Cutbacks To Affect Hundreds Of Children

In a few days, as a direct consequence of our shameful inability as Californians to govern ourselves responsibly over a period of decades, your YMCA will begin notifying 774 young children and their impoverished parents that there will be no more YMCA child care for them.

Scouts Choose Leaders Of Character

khts_inthecommunityThree local couples will be honored at the fourth annual Santa Clarita Valley Leaders of Character by the Bill Hart District of the Western Los Angeles County Council of the Boy Scouts of America chapter.

Bill and Cathy Kennedy, Rick and Ann Patterson and Joe and Barbara Schulman are this year's honorees and will be celebrated at a gala dinner September 26 at the Valencia Hyatt Regency.

Key Watergate Witness John Dean To Make Santa Clarita Appearance

One of the most publicized scandals in U.S. presidential history will come to life on Saturday, August 15th, as John Dean will be speaking in Santa Clarita.

 

Dean served as White House counsel to President Richard Nixon from 1970 to 1973, and became a key figure in the Watergate prosecution, serving as a witness.

 

Antonovich Calls For Reclaimed Water Information

The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a motion by Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich to study increasing reclaimed water for non-drinking purposes.

 

 

 

Hornaday Sets NASCAR Trucks Series Record With Four Wins In A Row

hornaday-ORPRon Hornaday Jr., the former Saugus Speedway champion, set a NASCAR Camping World Truck Series record by winning four races in a row.

He won the Truck Series race at O’Reilly Raceway Park in Indianapolis on Friday. It was also the 44th Truck Series win of his career, another record.

Art Competition Winner Reflects After Washington Trip

congressionalartwinner_09_02YouHwa Shin's artwork is now hanging in Washington D.C., after winning the Congressional Art Competition, put on by Congressman Buck McKeon's office.

 

The yearly event calls for art submissions from Santa Clarita high school students, and a panel of judges picks a winner. The winner is then sent to Washington D.C. for a major reception with similar winners from across the Unites States.

 

Dodgers Lose 8-6

On Sunday, the Dodger wrapped up their series with the Marlins. LA came up short - losing to the Marlins 8 to 6.
