It may seem like we're stating the obvious, but the National Weather Service has issued a warning to residents of the Los Angeles area mountains and the Antelope, Santa Clarita and San Fernando Valleys that it's going to be really hot outside for the next few days.

Three local couples will be honored at the fourth annual Santa Clarita Valley Leaders of Character by the Bill Hart District of the Western Los Angeles County Council of the Boy Scouts of America chapter.

Bill and Cathy Kennedy, Rick and Ann Patterson and Joe and Barbara Schulman are this year's honorees and will be celebrated at a gala dinner September 26 at the Valencia Hyatt Regency.

Dean served as White House counsel to President Richard Nixon from 1970 to 1973, and became a key figure in the Watergate prosecution, serving as a witness.

Ron Hornaday Jr., the former Saugus Speedway champion, set a NASCAR Camping World Truck Series record by winning four races in a row.

He won the Truck Series race at O’Reilly Raceway Park in Indianapolis on Friday. It was also the 44th Truck Series win of his career, another record.
