Funding Fight To Ease Illegal's Burden On Prison System

A motion by Los Angeles County Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich will send a five-signature letter to President Obama and members of Congress to have the federal government pay for the high cost of incarcerating criminal illegal aliens under the State Criminal Alien Assistance Program (SCAAP).


Soloman Looking To Win Seat On Hart District Board

In November, the Santa Clarita Valley will head to the polls to decide who will hold three of the five seats on the Hart District Governing Board.

Wednesday afternoon, Wallers' Gym Jam Academy played host to a special preview showing of a new ABC Family Channel series, "Make It or Break It."

The show centers on a group of teen gymnastic athletes as they train and prepare for their chance to compete for a spot in the Olympics.

U.S. Forest Service And Chumash Indians Reach Fire Protection Agreement


Los Padres National Forest and the Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians have just signed their first Cooperative Fire Protection Agreement and Annual Operating Plan.

In the plan, they will join together in the prevention, detection, and suppression of wildland fires within their joint protection areas.


Magic Mountain Announces Summer Concert Series

flock-of-seagullsSix Flags Magic Mountain will be flashing back to the past with some big names in its summer concert series this year. The weekend concerts will cover a variety of music genre including Pop, R&B, '80's and Latin.

Acts include some of today's hottest and yesterday's favorite artists Sean Kingston and Wale (July 11), A Flock of Seagulls and When in Rome (Aug. 8), Dramarama (Aug. 15), and Lit and Everclear (Aug. 22).

Shults, Madison Make All-CIF Softball First Team

The Hart and Valencia softball teams were well represented on the All-CIF Division I teams. Hart’s Jessica Shults and Valencia’s Madison Shipman earned first team spots.
Two of Shults’ teammates made the All-CIF second team: pitcher Destiny Rodino, who threw a no-hitter in the CIF Division I playoffs, and second baseman Melissa Brown. Valencia’s Carly Mortensen, who took a no-hitter into the seventh inning of her first playoff game, was also named to the All-CIF second team.

Small Fire Out At Cement Plant


The Los Angeles County Fire Department is reporting a small fire burned about an acre near a cement plant in Canyon Country. The fire, which was contained to one acre, near the northbound 14 at Soledad Canyon Road and Shadowpines.

Fire units arrived on scene and were able to make quick work out of knocking down the fire. All lanes of the northbound 14 are open.


Drug Dealers Behind Bars After Neighborhood Raid

khts_crimeDetectives from the Los Angeles County Sheriff Department's Headquarters Narcotics Bureau, assigned to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station area, took down two suspected drug dealers at a residence in the 27200 block of Santa Clarita Road, Saugus.
