    VIA - "B2B Is Back"

    The worldwide recession has taken its toll on many aspects of daily life in Santa Clarita, including the daily operations of many local businesses. Recognizing the need for local businesses to reduce costs and interact effectively, especially in times of economic downturn, the Valley Industrial Association (VIA) is preparing the return of its Business-to-Business Industry Show on June 10 and 11.

    Swine Flu Case Confirmed At Skyblue Mesa School

    Another case of H1N1 (swine) flu has been confirmed in the Santa Clarita Valley.

    A sixth-grade student at Skyblue Mesa School was diagnosed with the strain after going for treatment of flu-like symptoms last week. After receiving a confirmation call from the doctor, the parent called the principal of the school, who informed the district.

    Update: Man's Body Was Bound, Burned

    Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide officials have confirmed that a body was found Saturday morning off of Interstate 5 near Templin Highway, just north of Santa Clarita.

    According to Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter, the unidentified man was found "bound and burning."

    Detectives have opened an investigation and are working to identify the body, which was badly burned. So far, the coroner can confirm that the body was an adult male, and they estimate that the man was between 16 and 26 years old.

    Hart Vs. Norco In CIF Softball Playoffs

    The Hart softball team faces Norco in the semifinals of the CIF-Southern Section Division I tournament on Tuesday. The game is in Norco, as if Norco needed any more help in this one.

    Norco has won its three playoff games by a combined score of 15-2. Hart has won its three playoff games by a combined score of 3-0.

    Norco has a 24-game winning streak entering the semifinals. Hart has a four-game winning streak.

    Bryan Herta Autosport Driver Crashes In Milwaukee

    Daniel Herrington, driving for Valencia’s Bryan Herta and his Bryan Herta Autosport team, finished 14th in the Firestone Indy Lights race at The Milwaukee Mile on Saturday. He spun out on lap 86 of the 100-lap race and crashed into the inside wall at the track.

    Six Foothill League Athletes Headed to CIF State Track And Field Meet

    Six track and field athletes from the Foothill League will compete in the CIF State Meet after posting qualifying marks in the Southern Section Masters Meet on Friday.

    Four girls from Saugus High School qualified in the 3,200. Freshman Karis Frankian was a bit of a surprise leading the way with a sixth-place finish in the 3,200 race at the Masters Meet. She was followed by teammates Stephanie Bulder in eighth, Kaylin Mahoney in ninth and Anne Randall in 10th.

    Randall also qualified for the 1,600, finishing in seventh in the Masters Meet race.

    Local Pilates Show Airing Nationwide This Month

    This month, Pilates for Healthy Bodies will begin airing nationwide on televisions acrss the nation. 

    The show features Master Pilates instructor Karena Thek Lineback, who runs Pilates Teck in Newhall, and the first Los Angeles area showings will be on KVCR June 3rd at 6:00 a.m. and June 6th at 11:30 a.m.

    Pilates for Healthy Bodies with Karena Thek Lineback, distributed by American Public Television, features expert Pilates tips, holistic nutritional advice, and commentary from Pilates practitioners who explain the health benefits of the practice.
