Fire 1 - Bridgeport:

A fire was reported in the Bridgeport area Friday afternoon closing roads and charing 5 acres.

LA County Fire got the initial report of flames in the riverbed behind Bridgeport at 3:51 p.m., where three youths were seen running from smoke in the creekbed behind the residences.

A few dozen deputies went door-knocking Friday morning around the valley to make sure sex offenders were playing by the rules.

Calling out the offenders' names and listening carefully as they knocked, deputies drew a curious neighbor or two if their summons went unanswered. Those registrants that answered the door were cooperative, used to the drill of bringing deputies up to speed on their activities.

With geese being killed at a major intersection, many wonder why they're crossing the street in the first place.

If you have ever been in the area of the Bridgeport community, no doubt you will have seen a goose from time to time, or perhaps even a gaggle of geese.

Betty Ferguson Foundation names 2009 Woman of Honor

The Betty Ferguson Foundation has selected College of the Canyons Chancellor Dr. Dianne Van Hook as their Woman of Honor for 2009.
