    Some Teacher Layoff Notices Cancelled At Hart District

    The Wm. S. Hart Union High School District is in the process of notifying 62 teachers that the district is rescinding their layoff notices. The district sent notices to more than certificated employees in March, notifying them that their jobs could be affected by a possible “reduction in force.” At this time, 36 employees remain on the layoff list. 


    Six Students Okay After Bottled Water Scare At La Mesa Jr. High

    This afternoon six students at La Mesa Jr. High in Canyon Country were taken to the hospital following concerns over bottled Aquafina water in the school's vending machines.

    Just after 2:30 this afternoon, the Santa Clarita Sheriff's station received a call with a second-hand report that an individual may have been spotted near Leona Cox Elementary school with a rifle.

    Supreme Court Ruling Will Affect Vehicle Searches

    The United States Supreme Court handed down a judgment Tuesday that will change how vehicle searches are done by law enforcement officers.

     

    For the last 30 years, police officers have followed the ruling in New York v. Belton, which held that police could search the passenger compartment of a vehicle as a “contemporaneous incident” – or at the same time - of the arrest.
