    Tip A Cop Comes To East Side

    Badge-wearers throw their "wait" around for Special Olympic athletes.

    The custody staff from Pitchess Detention Center will be taking a break from the cellblock on Thursday, Oct. 23 and serving in a different way – bringing the “Tip A Cop” fundraiser for Special Olympics to the east side of town for the first time.

    Traditionally, the events that feature law enforcement personnel – both the enforcers and their support staff, paid and otherwise – serving as waiters and charming generous tips from diners have only been featured in Valencia.

    One Suspect Arrested In Holdup, Two Still At Large

    Two suspects still being sought, man with gun under arrest.

    One suspect was arrested Saturday morning on suspicion of armed robbery of a couple in the Bridgeport area and possibly two others are still at large.

    Matthew Booth, 18, of Saugus and two others allegedly approached the couple around 10:15 p.m. as they were walking, demanding their money.

    The couple initially refused, but then saw that Booth had a gun and gave up their cash, losing approximately $500.

    Mister Jalopy Artwork On Display In COC Gallery

    Painter Paul Gauguin once said, “Art is either plagiarism or revolution,” but the work of local artist Mister Jalopy defies that logic by appropriating discarded consumer products and creating something spectacularly new.

    The College of the Canyons Art Gallery will display some of Jalopy’s work in the exhibit “Mister Jalopy and the Maker Philosophy” from Nov. 1 to Nov. 18, 2008.

    Child Injured By Rolling Truck In Castaic Driveway

    A 3-year-old boy received major injuries in what appears to have been a tragic accident.

    Joseph Geen of Castaic and his 3-year-old son were cleaning a 2006 Dodge Ram truck
    at his residence on Silver Oak Trail in Castaic. For an unknown reason, the
    parking brake deactivated, causing the truck to roll backwards down the
    inclined driveway.
