    High School Football Starts Tonight

    KHTS AM-1220 will broadcast the first game of the season.

    ImageAt 6:30 p.m. tonight, high school football kicks off in Santa
    Clarita. The first game in the highly competitive area will be played by Golden
    Valley and Littlerock
    High Schools.

     

    Dodgers Win 6-4

    On Wednesday night the boys in blue beat the Padres, 6-4.

    Hart District Announces Candidates For 'Teacher Of The Year'

    17 candidates for district's highest honor cover spectrum of experience, involvement.

    Seventeen teachers representing all of the Hart District’s
    schools have been named Teacher of the Year by their respective sites. All 17
    will be presented to the Hart District Governing Board at its Sept. 3, meeting,
    when one will be announced as District Teacher of the Year, to represent the
    Hart District in Los Angeles County
    competition.

     

    This year’s Teachers of the Year and the schools they
    represent are:

    Piru Lake Rangers and the Ventura County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue Dive Team.

    Sylmar Man Drowns In Castaic Lake

    A 29 year old man with average swimming skills drowned
    Saturday while wakeboarding in Castaic
    Lake
    .

    Captain Ed Winter of the L.A. County Coroner Office said
    that Omar Pinto, a resident of Sylmar, drowned while wakeboarding. He was not
    wearing a life jacket.

    “According to the reported information, he didn’t know how
    to swim well,” Winter said.
