Laser Pointer Singles Out Valencia Man For Arrest

Pointing at a helicopter with a laser is a serious offense.

A Valencia man was arrested Saturday night for pointing a laser at a sheriff’s air unit.

Mathew Ponek, 29, was arrested at 9 p.m. near his residence, and faces a felony charge.

He was cited and released and will be arraigned Tuesday at Santa Clarita Superior Court.
