    UPDATED: Brush Fire In Green Valley

    Fire burning in Angeles National Forest near Green Valley.

     UPDATE: 7:43 p.m. Monday, Aug. 18

    UPDATE: The South Fire, which has been burning in the Angeles National Forest near San Francisquito Canyon Road in Green Valley since Sunday afternoon, is 91 percent contained and a more accurate mapping system has reduced the acreage burned from 250 to only 135 acres.

    San Francisquito Canyon Road, which was closed Sunday and most of Monday, is now completely open to all traffic. All burn areas are within the Angeles west of Green Valley.

    Sheriff’s deputies working with the Probation Department took a six-month-old girl into protective custody Thursday night when her mother was discovered using methamphetamine.

    Alert Security Guard Catches Scrap Metal Thief

    Suspect caught on video as well as seen by alert guard.

     

    A suspected scrap metal thief was caught in Valencia Sunday afternoon by an alert security guard.

    John Stanley Tebroski, 33, was caught by deputies after the guard saw him jump a fence at 25215 Avenue Stanford in the Valencia Industrial Park shortly before noon. Tebroski was allegedly trying to steal scrap metal from the back of the business when he was apprehended.
