    Man Stabbed Over Channel Selection In Canyon Country

    Bad pick on TV show leads to stabbing.

     

    Two men arguing over the TV channel were split up early Monday morning when one man stabbed the other in the arm.

    Joseph O’Malley, 46, was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon after he stabbed a 27-year old man in their apartment on Solemint
    Canyon Road in Canyon Country.

    According to Sgt. Byron Wainie, the men were arguing over what to watch on television and alcohol was involved.

    Newhall Community Center Karate Team Takes Home Top Honors

    Newhall Community team scores highest out of thousands of competitors.

     

    Santa Clarita’s own karate team brought home three first place championships and two second place trophies from the 2008 International Martial Arts Championships in Las Vegas in June.

    Ten members of the Newhall Community Center's team traveled to Las Vegas, where they competed against more than 2,000 participants from as far away as England, Canada, Guatemala and Mexico in an exhibition of martial arts skills.

    Power out temporarily in Newhall.

     

    A portion of Newhall is currently without power.

    Officials at Southern California Edison reported that at 5:13, nearly 1,500 customers lost power. The cause has not been determined.

    Fatal Crash Claims Palmdale Man

    Alcohol suspected in driver's erratic behavior.

     

    A Palmdale man died in an early-morning crash when his car was rear-ended on the northbound 14 freeway north of Agua Dulce Canyon Road.

    The 44-year old man, who has not been identified pending notification of relatives, was backing up a 1996 Chevrolet Cavalier in the #2 lane at approximately 1:15 a.m. when he was struck from behind by a silver BMW 350 driven by Rafael Hernandez, 33, also of Palmdale.
