Hart District Summer School Opens Monday

Summer school offers students chance to catch up, learn new skills.


Summer school in the William S. Hart Union High School District opens at 7 a.m. Monday, June 16, with a record number of 6906 students registered. That number is up from 6,757 students at the same time last year, but actual enrollment is expected to be slightly less as students receive their final report cards and find their grades high enough to avoid summer classes.

I-5 Southbound Closed Friday Morning For HazMat Spill

The Los Angeles City Council voted 9-1 Wednesday to oppose the Safe Neighborhoods Act, an anti-gang measure authored by State Sen. George Runner that has qualified for the November ballot.

Symphony takes over Kellar homestead for Western music fest.

Join supporters of the Santa Clarita Symphony from 6 to 10 p.m. June 21 as the front yard of Santa Clarita Mayor Bob Kellar’s home is transformed into a mini western town featuring a general store, bandstand, and saloon reminiscent of the 1970’s television show “Gunsmoke.” 

This event is the Symphony's largest fundraiser of the year with proceeds going to help underwrite the Symphony's programming and child outreach initiatives for the upcoming year.
