A Long Beach man died Friday morning after a collision on Pearblossom Highway.

Erick Galdamez, 29, was driving his 1998 Toyota Tacoma eastbound on State Route 138 near 300^th Street West when he attempted to pass a big rig and collided with the left front of a utility truck driven by Roberto Pereira, 52, of Lancaster.

Parents of Santa Clarita Valley girls coached by Kevin Lamont Thomas, who has been arrested for inappropriate sexual behavior with a minor, are shocked, according to Hart District officials.

Thomas, 40, was arrested June 10 by LAPD.  The basketball coach and special education assistant at Birmingham High School in Van Nuys is facing 12 felony counts of sexually assaulting a female student, according to the LA County District Attorney’s office.

A school bus driver who didn’t notice the signal changed to red collided with a private vehicle Wednesday afternoon, causing moderate injuries to a 6-year old child.

The bus, which is owned by the Saugus Union School District, but operated by contractors from Student Transportation of America, was being driven by 24-year old Amanda Cabrera of Castaic. None of the 23 children on board the bus were injured.
