    Canyon Country Man Arrested For Knife Attack

    Altercation over insult escalates into stabbing.

     

    A Canyon Country man was arrested Thursday afternoon after stabbing a 17-year old male in Stevenson Ranch in a heated argument over a girl.

    The incident occurred outside of a Starbucks in the Westridge Shopping Center at the corner of The Old Road and Valencia Boulevard in Stevenson Ranch.

    Long Beach Man Dies On Pearblossom Highway

    Alcohol may have been a factor in collision.

     

    A Long Beach man died Friday morning after a collision on Pearblossom Highway.

    Erick Galdamez, 29, was driving his 1998 Toyota Tacoma eastbound on State Route 138 near 300th Street West when he attempted to pass a big rig and collided with the left front of a utility truck driven by Roberto Pereira, 52, of Lancaster.

    Parents of Santa Clarita Valley girls coached by Kevin Lamont Thomas, who has been arrested for inappropriate sexual behavior with a minor, are shocked, according to Hart District officials.

    Thomas, 40, was arrested June 10 by LAPD.  The basketball coach and special education assistant at Birmingham High School in Van Nuys is facing 12 felony counts of sexually assaulting a female student, according to the LA County District Attorney’s office.

    Horse Hoarder Jailed For Cruelty

    Pearblossom resident Janis Ridgeway Damiani, 57, pleaded not guilty Wednesday to 30 counts of felony animal cruelty after Los Angeles County Animal Care and Control officers took away more than 100 horses from her Antelope Valley compound on Monday and Tuesday.

     

    School Bus Driver Runs Red Light, Injures 6-Year-Old Girl

    Driver didn't notice the light had changed, hits young man and girl headed for a shopping center.

     

    A school bus driver who didn’t notice the signal changed to red collided with a private vehicle Wednesday afternoon, causing moderate injuries to a 6-year old child.

    The bus, which is owned by the Saugus Union School District, but operated by contractors from Student Transportation of America, was being driven by 24-year old Amanda Cabrera of Castaic. None of the 23 children on board the bus were injured.

    Toyota drivers should beware, someone is out there stealing catalytic converters and have hit Newhall, as well as unincorporated areas of the county as well as Stevenson Ranch.

     

    Detectives from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff Station's Burglary and Theft Team are investigating seven incidents of grand theft involving the apparent late night stealing of catalytic converters.
