    Raising Money A Slam-Dunk For Golden Valley

    Help the hoopsters by attending a TV show taping.

     

    The Golden Valley High School Girls Basketball team is having a unique fundraiser Thursday and again on Tuesday, June 24 and the public is invited to attend – for free!

     

    The hoopster girls are organizing two trips to be part of the audience of Hulk Hogan’s Celebrity Championship Wrestling show. In return for having an enthusiastic audience, the production company will make a donation to the athletic program.

     

    Summer Fun Just A Bus Pass Away

    Students can get discounts, save gas and travel safely.

     

    The City of Santa Clarita’s Transit division is teaming up this summer with local businesses to offer students a Summer Bus Passport for the month of July. The Passport is a new student bus pass with benefits, and was created to allow Santa Clarita Valley students a summer experience using public transportation.

    Girl In Critical Condition After Newhall Crash

    Accident traps girl between tree and wall, jaws of life used in rescue.

     

    A 16-year old girl is in critical condition this morning after a serious accident Monday night on Wiley Canyon Road.

    The girl was driving a 2005 Honda CRV westbound on Wiley with her 17-year old boyfriend driving a 1997 Volvo station wagon alongside her. For an unknown reason, the boyfriend’s car drifted toward the center median and he over-corrected, hitting the left side of the girl’s car and sending it toward the curb.

    Antonovich Opposes Needle Exchange Program

    Supervisor cites failure of programs in other cities to curb spread of hepatitis.

    Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich voted against a motion by the Department of Public Health calling for an extension of the County’s needle exchange program.

    An “Honor America/Secure Our Border” rally will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 28 at the Santa Clarita Civic Center amphitheater, sponsored by the Santa Clarita Valley and Antelope Valley Independent Minutemen.

    “Anyone who loves this country is welcome,” said event organizer Roger Gitlin. “Bring flags and placards and your patriotic spirit.”
