Trautman Recognized For Work Against Las Lomas

Major development recently killed by LA City Council.

 

 

Planning Commissioner and City Council candidate Diane Trautman was the recipient of some recognition not long ago from Los Angeles City Councilmember Greig Smith. In a letter, he wrote “Your presence played a significant role in persuading a majority of my colleagues to vote against this awful project.” He continued; “I will always be grateful for your willingness to stand up against Las Lomas.”

 

 

State Law Enforcement Group Honors George Runner

Group names him “Outstanding Senator for 2008.”
Recognized for his strong commitment to probation issues and programs within the California Legislature, Sen. George Runner has been named the Outstanding Legislator of 2008 by the Chief Probation Officers of California.

City Council Election Resources

KHTS urges every Santa Clarita resident to vote April 8th in the City Council elections. Two seats are up in this year’s election.

 

To get a sample ballot form the City, click here.

 

Polls close at 8:00pm, and KHTS will be broadcasting live from City Hall as the results start to come in.

 

Mail in votes will be counted at 8:00pm, and those results could be released within an hour of the polls closing.

City Holds "Volunteen" Round-Up

Local Students Asked to Volunteer for City’s Cowboy Festival.The City of Santa Clarita has a great volunteer opportunity for teens to help out at the City’s upcoming Cowboy Festival.  Students, aged 11 to 14, who need to fulfill community service hours or who are simply interested in volunteering, can sign up to work at the Cowboy Festival’s Gold Rush Food Court, the weekend of April 26th and 27th.

Dodgers Top Padres 3-2

On Sunday afternoon, the LA Dodgers, tied at two with the San Diego Padres in the top of the ninth inning, received an RBI single from second baseman Chin-lung Hu and would go on to win the game 3-2.You can hear the Dodgers, as they open a three-game series with the Arizona Diamondbacks, Monday beginning at 6:00pm, LIVE on AM1220 KHTS.

Get To Know The Candidates: Maria Gutzeit

City Council candidate Maria Gutzeit goes on-air with KHTS.

 

Friday afternoon, Maria Gutzeit was interviewed on KHTS as part of our “Get To Know the Candidates” series.

She spoke about her track record as a member of the Newhall County Water Board, and some of her ideas to make Santa Clarita a better place to live. One of the largest issues facing the City is traffic. Gutzeit told KHTS that there are several ideas she has to better this situation, one of which includes creating more local jobs.

 

I-5 Truck Routes Closed

All Northbound truck lanes are closed, and the California Highway Patrol has confirmed that the #4 lane is also closed.

Santa Susana Park On Way To Becoming Reality

Advisory committee first step in creating park.

 

AB 1842, a bill bringing Santa Susana State Park a step closer to reality passed out of the Assembly Water Parks and Wildlife Committee this week. Authored by Santa Clarita Assemblyman Cameron Smyth this legislation directs the Department of Parks and Recreation to establish the Santa Susana State Park Advisory in order to create the SantaSusana State Park.
