Sheriff's Investigate Saturday's Brush Fire Near Car Dealerships

Sheriff's have detained a minor that may be involved.


UPDATED: Sunday, 9:00p.m.


A brush fire near the intersection of Valencia Boulevard and Creekside Road in  Valencia was reported just before 8 p.m Saturday.


Battalion Chief Joe Lindaman said that the fire was held to 2 1/2 acres with containment confirmed at 8:30 p.m.


Santa Clarita The 11th Fastest Growing Retail Market In State

Businesses calling our town "home sweet home."



The recently released California Retail Survey ranks the City of Santa Clarita as the 11th fastest growing retail market in the state and among the “Top 25 City Retail Markets in California” based on analysis of 2007 retail sales.   The City of Santa Clarita ranked higher than the cities of Newport Beach, Beverly Hills, and Santa Monica.

Dodgers Fall 1-0

Northlake Hills Elementary Joins Presitgious List

Castaic school  ranks amoung California’s Distinguished schools.


The Castaic Union School District has announced that another of its schools has joined the ranks of state-wide distinguished schools.  Northlake Hills Elementary School was announced as a 2008 California Distinguished School by State Superintendent of Public Instruction Jack O’Connell in a special press release on Wednesday, April 9, 2008. 

Dodgers Crush Padres

On Saturday night, the Dodgers crushed San Diego, 11-1.

Motorcyclist Killed On Sierra Highway

Solo rider loses control of bike.


A 35-year old Acton man was killed Saturday when his motorcycle drifted off the road and he was thrown from the bike.

Derek Eugene Shea was traveling southbound on Sierra Highway just north of Vasquez Canyon Road about 7 a.m., according to CHP Sgt. Kevin Pack, when for unknown reasons, he lost control of the vehicle and it left the road, rolling several times. Shea was pronounced dead at the scene.

No other vehicles were involved in the incident.

City To Hold National Anthem Auditions


One singer will perform at Dodger stadium for during SCV Dodger Day.




The City of Santa Clarita and the Dodger Day Committee is accepting entries for a Santa Clarita vocalist or vocalists to sing the National Anthem at the 31st Annual Santa Clarita Dodger Day on Saturday, June 7th. The game officially begins at 12:55 p.m. with pre-game activities beginning at 12:45 p.m.


Four Caught Stealing Converters From Neighborhood Cars

Catalytic converters sought for precious metals.


Four people were arrested early Friday morning after four stolen catalytic converters were found in their possession.
