Hart District Board Approves $10.3 In Budget Cuts

After an extended meeting Wednesday night that went from frustration to compromise with a dash of hostage negotiation, the governing board of the William S. Hart High School District voted to accept a $10.3 million slate of cutbacks that would put them within a margin of safety should the state make good on its threat of a 10 percent across-the-board budget cut.

Convenience Store Shooting Suspect Still At Large

Victim shot as he left store in Canyon Country. 


One man was shot during an altercation at a local convenience store shortly early Wednesday morning. The victim, a 28-year male Hispanic, was shot in the torso by a suspect described as at 38-year old Hispanic man, 5’6,” 190,  who left the scene in an unknown vehicle.

Saugus Basketball Coach Steps Down

Hallman steps away from coaching


The face of Saugus High boy’s basketball for the last 14 years has stepped down.  Jeff Hallman stepped aside as Head Coach of the Saugus High School basketball team on Tuesday afternoon.  Hallman cited the want to pursue other opportunities in life as his main reason.


“After 21 years of coaching at Saugus, I felt it was time to step down and pursue other opportunities,” Hallman said.  “It’s time to spend some quality time with my wife and daughter.”
