Tanker Truck Accident Blocks Northbound I-5

Tanker crash cramps rainy freeway.

UPDATE: 02:15pm 


ImageA tanker truck and five vehicles collided on the northbound I-5 at Calgrove earlier today, blocking several lanes of the freeway for hours. 


A SigAlert was issued, but by 2:00pm all lanes had been re-opened and traffic was beginning to move more smoothly.

I-5 Freeway Remains Open; Another Storm Ahead



California Highway Patrol reopened the I-5 Freeway through the Grapevine Friday morning, in both northbound and southbound directions. No chains are currently required for vehicles to drive through the area.

A slight reprieve from the rain Friday afternoon and evening allowed us a moment to dry out- but another storm is expected to move through our valley Saturday night, dumping more rain all the way into Sunday evening.

Animal Rescue Efforts Halted

The ongoing rescue efforts of abandoned and abused dogs in Lancaster was halted Wednesday when a dispute over who would perform the rescue forced the caretaker of the property to call the sheriff's department.

Pinetree Elementary Hosts Career Day

Pinetree Community School, located in the Sulphur Springs School District in Santa Clarita, hosted a career day Thursday. The Career Day was an opportunity for students to hear local residents talk about how they got involved in their respective lines of work. KHTS Program Director and Afternoon Host Jason Endicott spoke to six different classes about broadcasting and the radio business. The students were interested in the process of how radio works, the history of radio, and a typical day in the life of a radio broadcaster.
