Program Creates Sexual Trafficking Awareness

Soroptimist International initiates project to prevent sexual exploitation.

On Sunday December 2, 2007, the International Day for the Abolition of Slavery, the Soroptimist International launched a project to create awareness about the heinous practice of Sexual Trafficking of Women and Girls.  That program will launch in the United States on Friday, January 11, 2008, the first National Day of Human Trafficking Awareness.

A historic night as the 2008 Foothill League basketball season got underway.  In a game heard live on KHTS, the Saugus Centurion boy’s defeated a tough Valencia squad, 70-63.  The West Ranch Wildcats came home with their first ever Foothill League victory, knocking off Canyon 68-56.  Defending League Champion Hart held off Golden Valley, 72-68.  Tune in on Friday at 6:15pm, when KHTS brings you all of the action from Valencia High as the Vikings and Hart Indians do battle for the first time in 2008.

On Tuesday night, in their opening game of the Foothill League season, the Saugus Centurion Boys Varsity Basketball team beat the Valencia Vikings 70-63, in a game heard live on KHTS.You can hear the Valencia Vikings host the Hart Indians, Friday night beginning at 6:15pm on KHTS.

Anti-Violence Rally Planned Saturday

Victims' families reach out to help prevent further violence toward youth in community.


A rally to bring awareness of street violence and offer some help to victims and their families organized by supporters of murder victim Josh Pipho will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Route 66 restaurant on Soledad Canyon Road in Canyon Country.

Sculpture Takes Flight At New Shopping Center

Bob Kellar Makes Election Run Official

Mayor files paperwork with City.

The April City Council elections will officially include Mayor Bob Kellar. Official papers were filed by Kellar Tuesday afternoon, although his decision to run had been announced in early 2007.


“Santa Clarita is a special place and I would be honored to continue working on behalf of the residents of our city.  There are many challenges before us including public safety, stopping the Las Lomas Development, and the cleanup of the Whittaker-Bermite site,” Kellar said in a prepared statement. .
