    Westfield Expansion To Break Ground

    New face of the Valencia Town Center will celebrate what's to come.

    The #1 shopping destination in north Los Angeles County is exactly how Westfield Valencia Town Center may be characterized after a much anticipated expansion.  Construction is expected to begin this winter on an open-air center featuring lush landscaping, water features, fireplaces and elegant patios.  The expanded center will attract 40 world-class retailers to the Santa Clarita Valley.

     

    Santa Clarita Day At Staples Center To Benefit Disaster Coalition

    Los Angeles Kings game will host Santa Clarita Residents for a good cause.

    On Saturday, January 12th, the LA Kings will play the Dallas Stars in a professional hockey match where a win can be attained on and off the ice.

    That’s because aside from discounted pricing for all Santa Clarita residents, a portion of the proceeds will benefit the SCV Disaster Coalition, which is working to provide assistance to victims of the wildfires that tore through Santa Clarita in October.  

    There are three ticket levels that may be purchased for the game:

    Valencia Man Involved In Fatal Motorcycle Accident

    Two bikes collide in major accident that claims one life.

     

    The California Highway Patrol has confirmed that one Valencia man was killed after his motorcycle collided with another motorcycle on the Angeles Forest Highway.

     

    The Valencia man was traveling westbound on the road when he collided with a motorcycle traveling eastbound.

    Hart High School had an incredible football season in 2007, going undefeated and making it to the Division Finals. Much of that credit is to be given to the arm of BR Holbrook and the hands and legs of his favorite receiver Dustin Diamond.  This tandem brings back fond memories of former Hart QB and current NFL Pro, Kyle Boller and his favorite receiver Jerry Owens.

    City Asking For Public Input Regarding Street Name Change

    Two segments of San Fernando Road may be renamed.

    San Fernando Road could be renamed if Santa Clarita residents and property owners agree.  The City of Santa Clarita is asking the public to attend two community meetings scheduled for the project.  The first meeting will be held on Monday, January 7, 2008, at 5:30 p.m. in the Century Room, located on the first floor of City Hall. 

    Two Saturday Night DUI Collisions Prompt Arrests

    17 year old girl among the intoxicated drivers.

     

    Saturday night into early Sunday morning was a busy time period for Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Deputies. Two vehicle accidents that occurred are believed to be the result of driving under the influence.

    A 17 year old girl rolled her car at Bouquet Canyon Road and Magic Mountain Parkway, and the driver responsible for a hit and run in Newhall was found to have been under the influence as well.

    Both drivers were charged appropriately, and no major injuries were reported.

    2007 was a year that started out with justice, warmed up to a council chamber-packing controversy, seemed to even out with a popular ballot measure, but had both a fiery and violent end.

     

    Celebrate New Year With Flair

    Two SCV parties plan fund (and roof) raising.

    On New Year’s Eve, all are invited to attend two Santa Clarita parties that are mixing a fun filled bash with fundraising efforts.

    LETMESAIL, a non profit group devoted to providing social, recreational and educational activities for residents with disabilities, will be holding a New Year’s Eve Bon Voyage Ball. They will provide dinner, entertainment, dancing, a live band, casino games, a balloon drop and a midnight toast. The Hyatt Valencia will play host to the event.

    Kings Win 3-1

    On Saturday, the Kings beat Colorado 3-1.

    The next game can be heard live, Sunday December 30th, at 3:30pm. The Kings will face Chicago.

    SCV Loses Community Leader

    Retired Judge Haig Kehiayan dies.

    A popular community leader has died at the age of 80. Haig Kehiayan, a retired judge, first entered Santa Clarita in the late 1980s and immediately immersed himself in various charities including the Boys and Girls Club, and the Chamber of Commerce.
