    Murder Suspect Held On $2 Million Bail

    Stephens arraignment and plea to be entered Dec. 10.

     

    Stevenson Ranch resident Michael Stephens was in court Friday, charged with two felony counts of murder and attempted murder. Stephens is accused of killing Josh Pipho and stabbing Chad White during a Nov. 24 fight at a Stevenson Ranch condo complex.

     

    Stephens is due to return to court Dec. 10 for arraignment and plea. He is being held at Men’s Central Jail with bail set at $2,050,000.

    Perhaps because it was so short and sweet, I still remember the definition of marketing given by my business school professor in a lecture hall many years ago.   He said that the essence of marketing is to “find a hole and fill it”.

     

    I’m reminded of that lecture every time I come across a granary tree.  They’re a funny looking structure, a snag (dead tree branch) or sometimes a post honeycombed with neatly drilled holes, each hole about an inch wide and stuffed with an acorn.

    Cyrus E. Stoddard, 19, of Paso Robles, died Thursday morning near Castaic when the F-150 pickup truck he was driving rear-ended a Caltrans sweeper detail. The sweeper was working in the center divider near the southbound lanes of the freeway.
